By putting myself in and around these places of worship, because of my atheistic views, is a direct protest to the ideals of faith but I felt that unless you knew me this wouldn't come across... The 98% chimp when you think about it, after having a chuckle, is a pretty loaded statement that is counter to much of the religious doctrines. So I visited all the churches I could find around campus...

We could argue about which church is more supportive of this or that scientific pursuit but really it's not something they understand nor care to understand and that is why I "protest" their presence around campus.

Project 3: Protesting
I think like everyone in the class this project was tough because we didn't have the same amount of time to work on it. Also, I found myself still thinking in terms of my last project so I decided to make this an extension, in a way, of my last project (2). So what I found difficult was figuring out something I was passionate about that could be protested by one person and still have real meaning. Finding something passionate wasn't hard but it was hard to find a good way to protest it. Well in my last project as I mentioned in that post I grew much more aware of the graffiti... but also due to the nature of my project I noticed many places of worship. It got me to thinking about all the places of worship around the U. This institute for learning and knowledge also has a high number of these places of worship that are dogmatic. I realize however that they bring comfort to those who traveled from somewhere and Tucson isn't "home" to them. By having them in this area it allows people to at least have a similar place of worship and people they can relate to far from home. But it also strikes me as funny because it is around a place of learning and these places of "faith" are places where search for knowledge is stifled. You can try and debate me on this but the idea of "faith" runs directly counter to knowledge and understanding. So enough talking here is what I did...
